I won’t describe what I look like. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s probably worse.
August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school—until now. He’s about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and if you’ve ever been the new kid then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie’s just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he’s just like them, despite appearances?
R. J. Palacio has written a spare, warm, uplifting story that will have readers laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next. With wonderfully realistic family interactions (flawed, but loving), lively school scenes, and short chapters, Wonder is accessible to readers of all levels.

THIS BOOK BROKE ME AND YET RESTORED MY FAITH IN HUMANITY.
This novel is everything you expect it to be,a touching novel about a boy who has to face some difficulties in life as result of defect when he was born. But this books quirkiness, emotions and its funny moments just made the reading experience so much better!
Auggie is more than his defect, his thoughts and emotions are so dimensional and deep which was a good surprise as one of my fears going into this book was August being one dimensional.
This novel follows Auggie starting school , real school with kids and teachers. We follow his experience facing the world that his parent tried to shield him from. It heart-wrenching to see his progression, all the highs and lows.
The writing in this book is swift, light which makes this a fast read.Having multiple POVS works in this book magnificent.I really did enjoy and learn to love each character, each one having some arc in the book!
“Everyone in the world should get one standing ovation in their lifetime”
A COUPLE OF REASONS WHY WONDER IS CUTE:
Auggie’s character development throughout the book was just amazing, to see him grow as person through a short period time just made my heart burst!
Via is such a underrated character in this book , I need more of her. Readers got to see a different side(perspective) of Auggie and how much he affects her life. She is strong and selfless and at times I felt she needed a hug.I WANT TO GIVE HER SO MANY HUGS!.
Auggie’s family is the cutest thing ever.Despite going through some hardship , they manage to support each unconditional, which isn’t the easiest thing to do!
There are various point of views in this book, which I think is awesome. We get to hear different people’s thoughts and describe the impact and presence auggie had on their lives regardless of it being negative or positive.
Wonder left me in cloud of happiness and joy.
Wonder shows that humans can
for once come together , support, empower and trust one another.A message like that only brings hope into my heart!
The plot has a good pace to allow some character development but also keep it enticing and not boring.
“We carry as human beings, not just the capacity to be kind, but the very choice of kindness”
This book serves such thoughtfulness and regardless of it being middle grade, it teaches something to everyone.Human can be so ruthless and judgey. We tend to forget each others hardships and are so quick to be selfish. We can do so much better than that.In our own lives we can be kinder, friendly. Not just smiling to each other in the hallway, but being each other friends, empowering each other to be our best.
Wonder is book that offers a great lesson on being human and all I can ask is for everyone to take your time and read this beautiful novel about self love and love in generally.
